Maker, Mark, Model, Condition, Price

These are all the clamps noticed at Fall 2001 Brimfield, on Saturday. Seventeen dealers offered a total of 33 clamps. But not all are included in the analysis.

The items are arranged in sequence by maker code. Within makers, the items are arranged in sequence by models, fist 8xx, then Inchers, then Numbers. (There aren't enough items to have to sort by condition.)

Prices were analyzed only for Poor, Fair, or Good, clamps. Two clamps had no price, and no dealer could be found; this eliminated two items. If a dealer had a pair of identical items, at a single price, then the analysis uses just one. There are therefore 31 distinct data points.

The range of sizes was from 5 to 18 inches, with 10 inch being most common, and 14 inch next most common. Condition ranged from Poor to Good, mostly good. The usual makers were found, with one new maker, A and A of Chicago. I suspect A and A subcontracted the work to Hempe of Wisconsin.

Further descriptions can be provided.

This season, I noticed that only one dealer who did not wait for me to open negotiations on price; instead, he made a second, reduced, offer immediately after I picked up an item.
