These codes are shorthand summaries of a number of
conditions.
- damaged = portions of handles or jaws cut off - not
analysed
- poor = threads stripped, or spindles jammed, to the point of
not functioning
jaws covered with glue or paint, to the point of
unsightliness
- fair = threads missing, holes drilled in handles, so as to
impair function
jaws spattered with glue or paint
- good = threads chipped in few places, without impairment of
function
dings and scratches of normal wear, dust and grime
- very good = no damage to spindles or jaws, polished
patina
- I = Incomplete,
- M = Married,
