The illustration has 3 figures: a side view of the two spindles, a cross section of a spindle and the nuts on it, and a horizontal section showing the adjusting lever.
Oddly, the two witnesses to the drawing are not the two witnesses to the specification.
Quoting the second paragraph of the specification:
This invention relates to an improvement in clamps for holding pieces of metal or wood, and has for its object to provide a clamp so constructed that the clamping jaws may be securely held in tightened position.
And the eighth paragraph of the specification:
Is that clear?By means of the foregoing device, when it is desired to clamp a piece of metal or wood, the nut 15 and the hollow screw 10 are moved toward the top of the screw threaded rods 1 and 2, and the jaw 8 is then raised up a suitable distance to permit of the insertion of the article to be clamped. The article (as for example a block 16) being placed between the jaws 8 and 5, the nut 15 is first screwed down so as to press the jaw 8 against the block 16. The nut 13 is then run up, carrying the lever 14 with it up against the end of the screw 10. The jaw 8 can now be further tightened by means of lever 14, which, being clamped between the screw 10 and the nut 13, will when turned turn both the screw 10 and nut 13, and thereby tighten the said jaw. The jaw can also be tightened by operating the screw 10 by means of the thumb-nut 12, which will cause the nut 13 to be turned by the frictional contact between it and the lever 14 and screw 10.
The mechanism is much like that used in the patent above, but adapted to a use in a bar clamp.

The illustration has 2 figures: a side view of the bar clamp, a longitudinal section showing the details of the mechanism.
Quoting the selectively from the specification:
